The skirting board made from synthetic material comprises a baseplate (16) provided with a series of shelves (18, 20, 22) for supporting cables and/or pipes, a cover (34) for covering the entire baseplate, a vertical attachment device and a horizontal attachment device in order to ensure permanent attachment and to permit easy detachment of the cover (34) with respect to the said baseplate. The horizontal attachment device is constituted by a male element (36) and a female element (38) which are provided one on the baseplate (16) and the other on the wall face of the cover (34), and that one of the said male or female elements which is provided on the cover (34), together with the baseplate (16), are designed to interact and be rendered integral with the profiled sections of coupling parts for ordinary skirting boards.
