1506684 Respiratory gas supply FISHER & PAYKEL Ltd 24 March 1976 [26 March 1975] 11855/76 Heading AST [Also in Division Bl] Apparatus for supplying a mixture of air and a breathable gas to a patient for spontaneous breathing comprises a centrifugal fan (1) supplying air to a tubular mixing chamber (2) within which is a tube (20) connected to a breathable gas supply apparatus through a pressure reducing valve, the tube extending diametrically across the chamber (2) and having a slit or slot (23) therein directed downstream of the fan whereby manual adjustment of the rate of flow of the gas automatically effects adjustment of the rate of flow of air so that the delivered rate of flow of the mixture remains substantially constant. The mixing chamber may be connected to a bacterial filter, a humidifier or nebuliser and thence to a face mask, tracheal tube or treatment chamber. |
