The rest volume of a filter consisting of a vessel contg. horizontal disc type elements arranged on a vertical, hollow, rotatable shaft/filtrate outlet, is treated effectively in that the disc type elements are provided with a 30-60 degrees turned up edge to ensure that a pref. 10 mm deep, liquid layer is maintained during the final gas pressure filtration. Provisions are made to transfer the residual liquid by means of an external circuit from the bottom of the vessel to a distribution plate arranged above the filter elements. A possible gas leakage through the filtrate is prevented and the liquid suffers only relatively low gas adsorbtion.
