1506694 Perforating apparatus PACLENE CO Ltd 31 Aug 1976 [1 Sept 1975] 35938/76 Heading B4B A machine for perforating, e.g. plastics film comprises male and female rollers 13, 14 between which the material is fed from a roller 11, a plurality of blade members 19 each adapted to be moved from a first position in which the blade projects from the surface of the roller to effect perforation and a second position wherein the blade is below the surface, and adjustable index means 51-60, Fig. 7, arranged to cause preselected blades to carry out the perforating strokes. Each blade is formed with a number of points 23, Fig. 5, which enter into gaps formed in the female roller 14. The blades are moved outwardly to effect a perforating stroke by means of a lever 56 pivotally mounted on a plunger 54 which is oscillated by a fixed swash-plate as the roller 13 rotates. The rollers are driven via a chain 25 provided with studs 29 spaced at preselected distances. In operation, when a stud aligns with a plunger 53 connected with the pivoted lever 56, the latter is caused to move the blade in a perforating stroke. All the blades in the roller 13 are provided with identical lever-and-plunger systems all actuated from the common swash-plate. When the distances between the lines of perforations on the material is required to be changed, a different chain 25 having differently spaced studs is fitted on the machine or the position of the studs may be changed.
|
