1507247 Intake silencers SOC ANON D B A 26 Oct 1976 [25 Nov 1975] 44506/76 Heading FIB [Also in Division B1] An air intake filter comprises casing 10 having a filter compartment 14 containing cylindrical filter element 16, and a resonator compartment 18, air inlet tube 24 and air outlet 26. Seal 28 attached to filter element 16 seals compartment 18 from outlet chamber 22. Compartment 18 communicates with inlet chamber 20 via annular passage 32. Flap valve 60 which may be controlled by a waxtype bulb thermostat 66 or manually, controls the mixture of hot and cold air fed to tube 24. Casing portion 52 is detachable from casing portion 50. The filter element has a seal 34 which is located in recess 36. The filter element may be folded paper, foamed plastics or textile material.
