1376222 Reciprocating compressors INDEL SpA 10 Jan 1972 [16 Jan 1971] 1015/72 Heading FIN A reciprocating refrigerant compressor comprises an electric motor 2 enclosed in a housing 7, 3, 6, a cooling fan 14 mounted on the motor's drive shaft 10 externally of the housing, and a compression piston 47, 48 reciprocable in a cylinder 41 by an eccentric bearing 32 on the shaft 10. The piston 47, 48 has an integral rod 45 guided in a bush 45 so as to contact the eccentric bearing 32. A diaphragm 58 clamped at its periphery between the cylinder 41 and a valve plate 56 seals the domed head of the piston with respect to the cylinder 41. Passages 51, 52 in the plastics piston head 48 allow lubricant in a chamber 34 to enter the space 53 between the piston and diaphragm. The valve plate 56 is provided with inlet and outlet valves 58, 60 controlling, respectively, communication between inlet and outlet chamber 66, 67 in a cylinder head 68 and a compression chamber 57 between the diaphragm 58 and the valve plate 56. The delivery chamber 67 delivers refrigerant gas to a condenser 78 located so that air is drawn thereacross by the fan 14. The pumping assembly disposed above the eccentric bearing 32 may be duplicated below the bearing 32. |
