1344233 Evaporation of pulping liquors STERLING DRUG Inc 6 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 10356/72 Heading B1B Alkaline pulping black liquor, in the raw state, is passed together with air through heat exchanger 12' into reactor 14' which is maintained under pressure, in the range of 500-1000 psig, and at such a temperature in the range 220‹-280‹C. that two pounds of water are evaporated, from the liquor per pound of air. The concentrated and partiallyoxidized liquor flows to flash tank 30, where further water is evaporated; and the concentrate is then burned in furnace 22'. Pulping chemicals can be regenerated from the smelt discharged from the base of the furnace. |
