The liquid cuvette and filling device for use in X-ray spectrography consists of a cylindrical housing (8) with a lower chamber (15) bounded by a radiation inlet window (14). The housing has an external circular lip (27) which allows the cuvette to be seated on a sealing ring and placed under vacuum in order to test the airtightness of the window diaphragm. When this is done, the chamber is filled with the fluid and the upper part of the cuvette is screwed on (19). The screw cap has a spring-loaded sealing plunger (16) fitted on its inner face which is forced onto the surface of the liquid in the chamber when the cap is tightened. Excess fluid escapes round the lip of the plunger seating into an overflow chamber (24)(26) and an air-tight seal is ensured. |
