<p>In the seal housing (7) of the sealing device, a sliding ring (16) is held such that it cannot rotate and is supported in the axial direction by springs (20). A counter-ring (24) which rotates with the shaft (1) and is supported axially thereon slides on a radial sliding surface of said ring (16). The sliding ring (16) is sealed by a first secondary seal (21) with respect to a sealing surface (14) of the seal housing (7) with the diameter (d1), and the counter-ring (24) is sealed by a second secondary seal (36) with respect to a sealing surface, fixed on the shaft (1), with the diameter (d2). The diameters (d1 and d2) are the same. As a result, the forces exerted by the pressure of the medium, to be sealed, onto the assembly of sliding ring (16) and counter-ring (24) in the axial direction cancel each other out, so that neither of the rings (16, 24) needs to be supported to the conventional extent and, with changes in the operating state, any deformation occurring in the region of the sealing gap between sliding ring (16) and counter-ring (24) is slight. <IMAGE></p> |
