The brick-splitting system produces bricks with roughened surfaces to give a more pleasant appearance to a building facade. Double bricks are used, delivered in a closed row to a first point, where they are separated from the row one by one and indexed to a splitting mechanism, the splitting operation being carried out while the indexing conveyor is stationary. The split bricks are then transported, with their broken faces towards each other to a second point, where these faces are fitted together again and the bricks are reassembled in a closed row for further transport.
