<p>1495578 Yarn package RHONE-POULENC-TEXTILE 20 March 1975 [22 March 1974] 11696/75 Heading B8M [Also in Division Dl] A textile thread package (Fig. 4, not shown) is produced by feeding in folds and/or coils a length of thread 1 from a feed device 2 to a receptacle 3 and subjecting the threads in the receptacle 3 to a mechanical pressure using a mechanical press 4 and preferably also subjecting it to a heat treatment in an oven 5 characterized such that the package has an apparent density in the range of 0À6 to 1À3 kg./dm.<SP>3</SP> and a Shore D hardness in the range of 50 to 85 units and wherein the ratio of the apparent density of the package to the density of the threads is in the range of 0À6 : 1 to : 1 and having a value within this range sufficiently high to give the package the specified hardness. The pressure exerted on the threads in the receptacle 3 is preferably between 20 and 200 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. The thread may be an artificial textile material such as cellulose acetate, rayon, viscose &c. or synthetic material such as polyamides, polyesters, &c. The receptacle 3 in which the threads are deposited can be of any volume, and any shape, perforated or unperforated. The packages can be solid or can have a channel passing therethrough to allow them to be placed on a spindle for example. The mechanical press 4 may be replaced by a piston, endless belt, calender or inflatable chamber.</p> |
