<p>The polyester has an inherent viscosity of 0.4-1.0 and comprises the condensn. prod. of 1,4-butane-diol, tere- and iso-phthalic acids and an acid of formula (I): (where x is 1-3, y is 5-8, x+y is 6-11, R1 and R2 are H or Me one being H; one of R3 and R4 is H and the other COOH; A, B and D are -CH2-CH2- or -CH=CH- and A, B, and D may all be -CH2-CH2- and when B is -CH=CH-, A and D may be -CH2CH2- or -CH=CH- but at is not D), the equiv. ratio of the diol to the total acids being 1:1 and the equiv. % of the acids in the above order being 65-75, 20-25 and 5-10%, based on total acids. The linear polyester is used as hot melt adhesive in the shoe industry and can be pumiced. It is more flexible than corresponding polyesters based on sebacic acid instead of (I).</p> |
