1356463 Electric rotary machines SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 21 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 16429/71 Heading H2A In an electric rotary machine, e.g. a motor, having a rotor 9 and a stator which has windings 2 which project axially beyond the end faces of the stator core 1, there is provided a bearing support 3 which has a cylindrical portion 6 receiving a bearing 7, a peripheral portion radially outside and axially displaced from the cylindrical portion 6 and which is secured to the stator core 1 radially inside the stator windings, and between these two portions a connecting wall having two radially spaced sets of circumferentially spaced apertures 10, 11. Rotation of the rotor impels fresh ambient air to be drawn into the rotor chamber 12 and then exhausted therefrom, as shown by arrows 13, 14 thereby cooling the cylindrical portion 6 and the winding projecting portions. The securing of the support is by bonding by a hardening substance 5 moulded to the stator. In other embodiments, the rotor has projections (17), Fig. 2, to impel the air, and to which the support is shaped; the connecting wall has a bellows shape (18), Fig. 3, to permit axial displacement during operation; and when applied to a salient pole stator, Fig. 4, the outer apertures 11 are elongated. To facilitate the flow of cooling air, the apertures may be oblique or defined by tilted spoke portions illustrated in Figs. 5 ... 13, not shown. |
