1381669 Aerosol depilatory CARTERWALLACE Inc 30 March 1972 [2 April 1971] 14964/72 Heading C4X [Also in Division A5] An aqueous aerosol depilatory composition comprises thioglycolic acid and/or a salt (particularly a sodium, calcium and/or potassium salt) thereof, a fatty alcohol, a nonionic emulsifier, petrolatum, mineral oil, water, and a volatile liquid propellant. The alcohol may be stearyl, cetyl or lauryl alcohol, and the emulsifier a condensate of ethylene or propylene oxide with one of the foregoing alcohols. Suitable propellants are CCl 3 F, CHCl 2 F, propane, butane and pentane. Preferred amounts are 2-10% by wt. thioglycolic acid/salt; 2-6% each of the alcohol, emulsifier, petrolatum and mineral oil; up to 1% of a perfume; de-ionized water to 100%; and 5-15% propellant besed on the wt. of the aqueous depilatory concentrate. The pH is adjusted to 11À5-12À8 with alkali. |
