Rolling combed fibres into sliver - after laterally displacing and overlapping portions of circularly combed fibres

A combed sliver is formed by successively combing leading and trailing ends of fibre lap portions using a circular comb, placing the combed portions (B) onto each other whilst laterally displacing the portions parallel to the comb axis, and rolling up the combed web about an axis at an angle to the direction of displacement of the combed portions so as to form a sliver. The structural non-uniformity in the combed web due to the overlapping of the separately combed portions is eliminated by rolling the overlapped portions into a sliver. The fibres can be continuously fed to and withdrawn from the comber. The number of subsequent drawing stages is reduced.
