<p>A base of any suitable material is veneered in polished wood, and the veneer is coated with a film of transparent plastic which will adhere immovably to the veneer. The plastic used is preferably a thermoplastic, pref. melamine or polyester. The board is made by assembling the base and the veneer, with a sheet of thermosetting material between, placing a sheet of the thermoplastic over, and applying heat and pressure, pref. 150 degrees C. and 10-15 kg./cm.2. The surface of the laminated material is heat and scratch resistant.</p> |
