<p>The growth tunnel is for catching and guiding rain or sprayed water or internally-condensed water vapour to plants. It comprises a covering (1) in the form of a furrow so water is distributed and dispensed to the seeds by capillary members (6) in the form of wicks. Such tunnels are placed side-by-side to completely cover an area. The tunnel permits the watering of seeds in times of spring drought without uncovering the seeded rows thus conserving the heat stored under the tunnel. The tunnel may be moulded from rigid plastics, or comprise flexible plastics film trained round rods (2). The rods are supported by end plates (4) having legs (9) in the ground.</p> |
