<p>In metallising objects, (a) a coating compsn. contg. a powder of >=1 ductile metal, and a film-forming material, is applied to a solid substrate, to form a metallic coating; and (b) the surface on the metallic coating is abraded to remove the film-forming material and to free a metallic layer with the appearance of a continuous layer. Metal coatings of varying shades can be obtd., e.g. by use of two different metals, or inclusion of a dye. The objects may be furniture, decorative articles, doors, ceilings bricks, jewellery or toys. The prods. can also be coated electrolytically, by current-free plating, or by vacuum coating, with e.g. Ni, Zn, Cu, Al, Au, Ag, Cr, Fe, Sn, Pb, W or Sb.</p> |
