Rotary sinter cooler on flotation chamber - on which upward thrust reduces load on bearings

The load on the guide rolls and the vertical rolls in the peripheral bearing of air-cooled rotary sinter cooler is reduced by applying a controllable upward thrust to the cooler. The cooler is carried on floats in a floatation medium. Pref. the cooler is mounted on a plate carried at its edge on a rail forming a bearing together with vertical and horizontal rollers. The cost of the bearing is reduced and a lower power input is required to drive the cooler.
