The battery charger has a transformer associated with a controlled rectifier and a charge control circuit. The charger is sensitive to charge voltages of the battery. The secondary winding of the transformer is a single winding which produces a unique secondary voltage. This voltage is applied to the controlled rectifier connected to the battery terminals. A voltage divider is interposed between the battery terminals and the control system. This ensures that at the input of the control system, voltages corresponding to the charge voltages of a nominal unitary battery voltage are applied. The control system has at least a step level detector. This detector interrupts the charging current when the voltages delivers by the divider are greater than a first predetermined value or lee than a second predetermined value.
|
