<p>The coating compsns. defined in parent patent are improved by using mixts. contg. (A) 5-35 wt. % bitumen with softening pt. >80 degres C; (B) 25-60 wt. % aromatic and/or chlorinated hydrocarbon solven, (C) 0-35 wt. % inert filler e.g. talc or ground shale and (D) 0-35 wt. % rust-protective pigment e.g. red lead or zinc chromate, (pref. with a ratio of inorganic solids to org. binders of 1.3:1). The mixture is ground to an av. particle size 25, pref. 10 mu. The compsns. are suitable for coating steel reinforcement in building materials e.g. silicate products, concrete, etc. in automatic dipping and drying equipment. Sedimentation in the dipping tank is reduced by the fine grinding and the drop-off of the film after dipping is reduced by the prefd. ratio of ingredients, giving thicker coatings and better protection.</p> |
