The heat sink of a solar energy cell is made up of several spherical cores. These cores may be an expanded thermal insulating material, a sintered metallic oxide or an air-tight casing filled with liq. and crystals with high latent heat of crystallisation. The surface of the cores is coated with a black body material. This material is made up of a black body cpd. mixed with microspheres of expanded glass all bound by a polymerised transparent resin binding agent. A heat carrying fluid, either gas or liq., is circulated around the spheres making up the heat sink. Specifically the glass comprises by wt., 55-60% SiO2, 25-30% Al2O3 4.10% Fe oxide and 1.7-6.6% other usual components. Used for heating air in buildings and water used for domestic and industrial heating or greenhouses. They can be spread on surfaces to e.g. heat swimming pools, prevent frost on seed beds, concrete, etc. Heat sink is easily adaptable and easy to set in place, remove and transport. |
