The plastic protective cassette is for containing an audio record disc from which it is intended that the disc need never be removed, even during playing. The cassette consists basically of a disc shaped plastic box with a top (2) and bottom (3) which are not directly connected together but are fitted round their circumferences (9, 10) so that when the whole arrangement, with the disc (1) inside, is placed on a turntable (8). Suitably placed posts (15) and tags (13, 14) lift whichever surface is on top slightly away from the disc (1) and bottom surface. A roughly radial slot (18) on both sides, with a hinged cover (30) allows access of the playing head to the disc (1).
