The elliptical wave generator 8 of a harmonic gear drive carries an internally grooved flexible outer ring 22 spaced therefrom by balls 12 running in a groove 20 in a ring 18 pressed on the wave generator 8 and restrained by a plastics cage 10 with the opposed walls 14 of the U-shaped ball recesses 16 converging towards the wave generator 8. The ball recesses 16 are formed by axial projections on the cage 10. The cage 10 is concentrically located within the rings 18 and 22 by contact therewith at the major and minor axes of the wave generator. The wave generator may be radially outward of the balls 12. |
