<p>Shaping of metal workpieces, esp. ferrous panels is carried out using a Ni coated plastics die, pref. made of reinforced epoxy resin. Pref. the die is constructed as a core surrounded by a shell member. The Ni coating should be electroplated onto the die and pref. a Ni-Co alloy is employed with a Rockwell hardness of 48-50. Precise shaping of the workpiece panel is obtd. The system eliminates the use of a casting pattern, copying, surface machining operations, and the use of relatively expensive materials such as grey iron.</p> |
