1505908 Shaft couplings; friction clutche: TWIFLEX COUPLINGS Ltd and J STEWART 24 Sept 1976 [4 July 1975] 28350/75 Headings F2U and F2C In a shaft coupling, Fig. 1, or a friction clutch, Fig. 3, two members such as a link 13, 13a or 13b and a driving member 11 are connected together by a pair of resilient cylindrical rings 19, 20 compressed towards one another without meeting by a stud, which may be a rivet or nut and bolt 16. In the shaft coupling, the opposite end of each of the three links 13 is connected in the same manner to the other shaft member 12. In the friction clutch, the opposite ends of each of the three pairs of links 13a, 13b are connected in the same manner to their associated shoes 21 to 23; the resilient rings 19, 20 may be torsionally preloaded to restrain the shoes from moving out to engage the drum 24 until a clutch engaging speed is reached, the surfaces of the rings and bores being corrugated or otherwise treated to facilitate the preloading. |
