1506475 T-connection between structural members SYMA INTERCONTINENTAL SA 11 Nov 1975 [9 Dec 1974] 46462/75 Heading F2M A T-connection is formed between two structural members wherein the first member 1 is a hollow bar of double-walled section including webs 17 which connect an inner section 16 to an outer, one comprising longitudinal vanes 19 or rails 31 defining channels 20 and wherein the second member 2 is provided with a bolt 7 whose head 8 is engaged in the channel 20 and which is rotatably and longitudinally displaceably mounted in the end of the second member and which tensions the connection by means such as the conical end 11 of screw 12 engaging in conical recess 10, the end face 24 of the second member being adapted to fit round the outer wall of the first member when the wall is deformed by tensioning bolt 1. Contact is initially made at points 25, which prevents rotation of the second member. Fully tightening the bolt 7 develops full contact between end 24 and the walls of the first member by deformation of the latter, and prevents longitudinal movement. Alternative cross-sections, such as shown in Fig. 3, and tensioning means, as shown in Fig. 11, are possible. The second member may be a garment rail. |
