1470007 Two part couplings; contact pins AMP Inc 8 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973 8 Feb 1974] 30103/74 Heading H2E A contact pin comprises terminal portions 10, 11 separated by and joined to a mounting portion 12 having a pair of resilient bowed legs 13, 14 bowed away from each other to secure the pin in a printed circuit board 26. Rounded outer shoulders (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) engage with the inner surface of the circuit board hole 25 to compress the legs 13, 14 together. In another embodiment (Figs. 6-8, not shown) two oppositely bowed S-portions form each leg (43, 44) which may be joined together at their midpoint (50). The pin may be gold-, silver- or tin-plated and may be retained in the circuit board by force-fitting, sweat soldering, utilizing a solder ring under flange 19 or a solder slug (32, Fig. 1, not shown) between the legs 13, 14. The hole 25 in the circuit board may be circular, square or rectangular.
|
