1386533 Animal feed additive NAREMCO Inc 13 April 1973 [17 Nov 1972[ 18035/73 Heading A2B An animal or poultry feed additive comprises a finely divided, acid-treated, non-toxic mineral carrier having methyl rosaniline chloride dispersed thereon. The mineral carrier may be a clay or a diatomaceous earth, Ca or Mg carbonate, phosphate or silicate, or organic or inorganic salts e.g. Mg, Cu, Fe, Mn, Co or Zn sulphates, which is preferably useful as a component of an animal feed. The acid may be acetic, citric, propionic, butyric, or lactic acid, or a mineral acid, selected so as not to form water insoluble salts with the mineral carrier. The carrier should pass through a 100 mesh U.S. standard sieve. The methyl rosaniline chloride is dissolved in a volatile organic solvent e.g. alcohol or ketone for dispersion. Preferred quantities are 0.1 to 5% by wt. of methyl rosaniline chloride and 1 to 10% by wt. of acid based on the weight of carrier, when the acid is acetic and the carrier calcium carbonate. The additive may be formed by blending calcium carbonate and diatomaceous silica, dissolving acetic acid and methylrosaniline chloride in methanol, and mixing the rewetting solution with the blended carrier until the methanol has evaporated. 0.1 to 25 lbs of additive is added per ton of feed to prevent mould. |
