Single handed control for wheelchair - having pivoted half sphere for torque distribution and steering

A half sphere (4) is pivoted inside a horizontal ring (1) which is itself pivoted between two axle shafts (2, 3), with one of the shafts hollow to contain the reversing control. The sphere is fitted with a tiller bar control handle protruding out of a hole in the top with the tiller bar operated reciprocally to pivot the sphere. The ring mountings translate the pivot movements into a drive force, using two freewheel systems. (14, 15, 16). A brake lever on the tiller bar enables a single handed control to be exercised, with the steering effected by swinging the bar to either side while reciprocating the bar up and down for drive.
