1395114 Disproportionating and isomerizing alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 23 March 1973 [15 May 1972] 14070/73 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Alkylaromatic hydrocarbons are disproportionated and/or isomerized by contacting them with a sulphide and a composite catalyst comprising a hydrogen mordenite having a silica: alumina molar ratio of 12-80 : 1, a sulphided Group VIII metal, optionally a Group VI metal, and 10-50 wt. per cent based on the composite of a binder which is γ- or #-alumina, preferably in the presence of hydrogen. Conditions may be 350-750‹ F., LHSV of 0À1-15, 100-2000 p.s.i.g., 100-15,000 s.c.f. H 2 /bbl. feed and an amount of sulphide to provide 3 x 10<SP>-4</SP> to 1 x 10<SP>-2</SP> mole H 2 S/mole H 2 . Examples describe the disproportionation and isomerization of o-xylene and pseudocumene and the disproportionation of toluene, ethylbenzene and cumene. |
