In order to obtain the desired austenitic structure, the elements must be balanced as follows:- 30(%C + %N) + 0.5(%Mn)# 1.5[%Cr + 1.5(%Si)] In order to make the resulting alloy non-porous, the following balance is also necessary:- %Cr + 0.8 (%Mn) - 11.88 (%N-0.1)-28.25#0. After hot- or cold-rolling and annealing the alloys are especially suited for use in high-strength fasteners, motor or generator retaining rings, marine cable and pump housings.</p> |
