The fruit or vegetable packing machine has separate conveyors which supply the produce and the boxes. The box supplying conveyor is formed in two sections, the first being driven at a faster speed than the second. The boxes are delivered to the first section by a ramp. The first section of the box conveyor is pref. driven by an endless element from the second section, the drive motor for the latter being regulated by an electronic speed controller. The boxes are pref. supplied on a helical roller ramp with a guide along its inner edge to locate the boxes.
