The safety fastening for objects to be dropped from aircraft, such as self-inflating dinghies, consists of two pairs of metal lugs (5-8) which are attached on either side of the hinged (3, 4) half shells (1, 2) of the container. Each lug has a large and small hole, the holes on each pair registering when the container is closed. The large holes locate hooks on pylons underneath the aircraft whilst the small holes are fastened by a pin which is ruptured by the self-inflation of the dinghy. The container also has a rounded cap which is held on by pins attached to a cable attached to the pylon. The cap serves as a marker in the water and also as a release for the parachute.
|
