<p>The electrode assembly for accumulator batteries comprises a basic frame member of metal having a U-channel profile (12). The member has nicks (13, 14) at two places at which it is folded inwards to form a three-sided square frame. An electrode header plate (7) is welded to the upper horizontal section of the frame either before or after bending. The active mass filled tube sections (1-5) are stacked one above the other and held at their outer edges by the U-channel frame sections which are crimped, when all tubes are in place. Thus no damage is done to the active tubes by the heat of welding since this is completed prior to assembly of the tubes.</p> |
