The converter has a comparator/holder with two analogue inputs, of which one is the convertor input. It delivers a first or a second signal, depending on which of the input signals is the greater. It has an integrator whose input is connected to the comparator/holder output, and its output to the comparator/holder second input. The integrator has a reversible counter which counts up a first signal and counts down a second signal from the comparator/holder. A digital-analogue convertor is inserted between the counter output and the comparator input. Elements derive the PCM output signal from the counter output.
