Direction reversing circuit for DC shunt-wound motor - has quadrant regulator and protective element in series with armature

The direction reversing circuit, for dc. shunt-wound motors in machine tools, avoids continuous loss in the turn-off circuit and prevents excess voltages, thereby keeping the insulation and the effects of noise to a minimum. This is achieved by connecting the quadrant regulator (2) and an a.c. protective element in series with the armature. A programmed switch connects the shunt wound circuit (4) to its power supply (16) via first contacts (13, 14) and by another contact (15) over a control (6) to the protection device. A series circuit, consisting of a resistor (10) and a parallel combination of contact (7) and two diodes (8, 9) and two contacts (11, 12), is connected in parallel with the shunt circuit (4).
