摘要 <p>A blowdown device for a reactor safety valve is connected at one end to the safety valve and is immersed at its other end in a water tank, the immersed part of the blowdown device comprises first and second groups of outlet openings. The speed vectors of the medium as it emerges from the first outlet openings cross the corresponding speed vectors of the medium emerging from the second group of openings. Since the two sets of outlets are at a substantial distance from each other, there is a phase difference between the pressure pulses emerging from them. Since however, the orientation of these pulses is along intersecting lines, the resultant effect is that two basic clouds of gas are initially produced when the blowdown commences, these clouds approaching close to one another but possessing different phases. This results in a considerable pressure balancing of the gas clouds in the water, without any substantial inertia blanket of water between the clouds. This considerably reduces the forces acting upon the immersion tank itself, esp. during the initial blowdown phase when air is first compressed and then discharged under expansion into the water.</p>
