Direct tabletting carrier mass - contg. a dry blended mixt. of tricalcium phosphate and carubin, and additional carubin

A particulate carrier mass suitable for direct tabletting comprise a dry mixt. of (a) about 100 wt. pts. of a thoroughly dry-mixed mixt. of a major amt. of Ca3(PO4)2 (I) with a small but effective amt. of carubin (II; carob bean flour); (b) 0-200 wt. pts. granular (I) and (c) 1-7 wt. % on (a) or 3-7 wt.% on (a)+(b) of (II). Pref. the mixt. also contains an acid disintegration aid (III) at 1-7 wt.% on (a) or 1-3 wt.% on (a)+(b). The mass is useful as carriers for pharmaceuticals (e.g. anaesthetics, antibiotics, antitussives, vitamins, antipyretics or antacids; foods (e.g. cocoa); edible dyes etc. The tablets formed from the carrier mass are strong but have favourable disintegration times.
