<p>Pipe connector comprises a sleeve (3) arranged over adjacent pipe ends (1, 2) to be joined. The respective half-lengths of the sleeve are conically divergent towards the mid-length (7) of the sleeve and have seated on them respective flanged rings (12, 13) drawn towards one another eg by bolts (30) extending through the flanges. The sleeve is pref. made of an elastomer sufficiently soft to grip and seal relatively unfinished pipe surfaces. At its mid-length the sleeve may have an external peripheral rib (8) engageable by recesses (21, 22) in the adjacent ends of the rings to inhibit undue outward swelling of the mid-length portion when the flanges are tightened.</p> |
