<p>Knitted hose fed from a circular knitting machine passes over a feed roll located between the auxiliary rolls of which one presses the hose against the feed, roll, the hose then being fed to winding up device. A pair of spring biassed levers are connectd by non-return ratchet mechanisms to the shaft of the feed roll and a pair of rotary cams act on the levers to rotate the feed roll. The cams act out of phase on separate levers to ensure continued rotation of the feed roll. The tension on the biassing springs can be varied by an adjusting screw. The rotary movement of the feed roll exerts a stretching action on the hose. Pref. the position of the auxiliary rolls relative to the central roll can be adjusted by a lead screw activated by a spring loaded handle. pref. the two auxiliary rolls are driven via gearing from the feed roll so that they rotate in the opposite direction to the feed roll.</p> |
