1509993 Mounting reels on mandrels ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH EICHDUDELANGE SA 12 March 1975 [12 March 1974 8 Nov 1974] 10356/75 Heading F2U [Also in Division B8] A wire reel is made of two rings 1 defining an annulus and joined by stirrups 2 to define an opening groove radially of the reel. The reel is mounted on an annular mandrel by separating the parts 3, 4 thereof to receive the reel and then reassembling the parts 3, 4. Filamentary material can now be wound on the reel while the winding stresses are accommodated by the mandrel. The mandrel has a network of grooves 5, 18 and 6 for accommodating the base portions of the stirrups 2, the sides of the stirrups 2, and the rings 1 respectively. The sides of the stirrups may open outwardly or inwardly as in Figure 4, in which case the mandrel would open inwardly. To unwind the filamentary material from the reel the reel is then mounted between two halves of an adaptor. The wire for making the reel is an iron-containing wire. |
