The heat exchanger has a wound strip assembly and flow channels parallel to the longitudinal axis. The channels between the strips have flow cross sections whose number corresponds to the number of winding layers. The heat exchanger is used for one fluid in gaseous or vapour state and another in liq. phase. The flow cross sections of a flw channel (15) are connected in parallel and the flow cross sections of the other flow channels (14) are connected in series. The winding is made of strips arranged concentrically within each other. Alternatively the winding can be made of spiral wound strips.
