Single-wall, heat-insulated, steel water-tank is lined with polyurethane or polystyrene foam, as heat-insulation, which is, in turn, coated with a 3-ply, water- and steam-proof, film laminate. Pref. the laminate is a polyethylene /Al/polyethylene laminate, 1 polyethylene lamina serving as carrier layer, the other as sealing layer. The polyethylene layers may be replaced by polypropylene layers. Use of water, as heat storage medium, is economical owing to its high specific heat and cheapness. Lining the tank with heat-insulation, instead of prior-art coating it, minimises risk of damage to insulation, esp. during transport of tank, or when it is to be installed underground.
|
