Catalysts consist of a metal of Group VIII or IB on a carrier of tungsten, molybdenum, chronium or titanium oxide. The metal is pref. a noble metal of Group VIII, esp. Pt and/or Ir. Used for reforming of naphtha to gasoline with increased octane rating. The catalysts show increased resistance to high temp. under oxidising conditions e.g. during burning-off of deposited carbon. Formation of large crystallites with low catalytic activity is avoided, even with catalysts contg. Ir. After burning-off, they can be regenerated by reduction in hydrogen, without requiring expensive redispersion with chlorine. Hydrogenolysis reactions are reduced compared with the same metals or alumina carrier.
|
