The protective container for a grenade (5) is designed to exclude moisture, and protect the propellant charges (7) from damage. It has an inner tube (1) of plastics or cardboard with a strong base (2). Around it is a rubber sleeve (3) with a cone shaped front end (4). The rear of the inner tube has grooves (8) near the closed end, to locate the rubber sleeve. When the grenade is inserted, the outer end of the rubber sleeve is doubled over, ensuring a good seal. The outer end of the inner sleeve has radial slots (10) along it. An alternative design has a rubber sleeve with strengthening and sealing rings around both ends.
