The thermostatically controlled 3-way valve is esp. for use in the oil circuit of a hydrodynamic coupling for the cooling air fan of an air-cooled IC engine, and combines simple design with small space requirements and functional reliability. The fluid outlet pipes (2, 3) lead through banjos (6, 7, 8, 9) to the valve seats (4, 5). A longitudinal bimetal strip (13) is supported at its ends by slotted sleeves (14, 15). A central hole (17) carries a snap fit elastomer ball (18). Depending on the fluid temp. the bimetal strip closes one of the two seats (4, 5). The inlet end of the valve is pushed inside the inlet pipe and sealed by O-rings (23). The oil can thus be either directed to the coupling or returned to the crankcase.
|
