Device for analytical determination of chemical characteristics of liqs. consists of an indicator having properties of wool dyes, applied to an inert water-insoluble protein carrier. Chemical bonding is not required. Reagent adheres well to carrier. Indictor is a chemical cpd. which undergoes a colour change in a specific reaction; pref. a Ph- redox- or metal indicator. Carrier may be natural or synthetic proteins and macropeptides or synthetic polymers contg. incorporated polar, esp. amino gps. and having protein properties. Proteins may be used as fabrics, papers, felts, powders or other shaped articles.
