<p>Reinforced rubber or plastic hose consists of inner and outer layer tubes and metallic filament or strip reinforcement between the tubes. The assembly has been bonded together by electric induction heating. Such hose is made by wrapping the reinforcement, embedded in elastomeric material which is compatible with the tubes, round an extruded inner tube, applying the water tube, and passing the assembly through an induction device so that the elastomeric material reaches melt temp. to effect bonding. Used e.g. for high pressure hydraulic hose. The hose is simpler and less costly to make than where mandrel and autoclaving under constant are used. The hose will withstand pressure shock loading. "Cheese cutting" of the tubes and air entrapment are avoided.</p> |
