The supply circuit feeds a number of units connected to a common supply line. The units can be connected or disconnected during operation. Two alternately usable, but always ready for operation supply units are connected by their outputs to a monitoring device. The supply line is doubled, and its two branches (LT1, LT2) are connected through separate switches (Sch 1, Sch 2) to a different supply unit (SpR1, SpR2). The switches are shunted by a high resistance resistor (Ra), which together with a further resistor (Rb) of the same resistance, through which the corresponding line branch is earthed, forms a voltage divider to which the respective monitoring device (U1, U2) is connected.
